About
A little bit about me
Drawing has always been my passion even as child. Growing up I remember constantly scribbling and doodling my favourite cartoon characters on scraps of paper and in the backs of copybooks, I remain a massive doodler to this day. I studied Graphic Design & Illustration and graduated in 2000, when the true scope of the internet was just being realised by the creative industries. It was a great time to be a newly graduated graphic designer and I have enjoyed a successful, interesting and rewarding career ever since. It was only two years ago I took the leap and decided to re-explore my love for illustrations. Remembering my younger days as an obsessive doodler, childrens illustration seemed like the perfect place to start. In 2010, I started to work on a number of small commissions, which was a great learning experience for me. A year later saw my work appear in Expose 9 from Ballistic Publishing, where I received a Masters award for my piece "Just in Time" and an Excellence award for "A Guide Through Town". Since then my work has appeared in the London Underground as part of the Artbelow campaigns and I have also had commissions from the NHS, The Big Challenge and Oxford University Press. My creative process is quite simple. I begin, every project, big or small, by producing a number of pencil sketches, once one begins to stand out from the others, I concentrate on that, and begin to refine it. Once I am happy with the final sketch I scan it and start the colour process in Photoshop, always using my trusted Wacom Tablet. I place a huge importance on using striking colours in my work as I feel it draws the viewer further into the work and its detail. I live in London and find great inspiration from the citys people, architecture and nooks and crannies. A creative mind of any type, living amongst such constant activity and diversity, cant help but generate new ideas.
